The 2024 Audi RS6 Avant is set to be one of the most exciting cars of 2024. At least that is what the major media is saying.

Here’s what we are hearing so far:

“You might think that 591 horsepower would be enough for the Audi RS6 Avant, but apparently, it was not,” gushes Car & Driver. “For 2024, Audi decided to crank the dial, replacing last year’s RS6 Avant with a new Performance model that promises a ludicrous 621 ponies. The new variant also weighs less, so acceleration should prove sufficiently brutal. And yet, the RS6 Avant’s search for more power changes nothing about its impressive practicality, comfortably seating five in an interior replete with rich materials and plenty of trendy technology. There’s plenty of space to store cargo behind the power rear liftgate, too. The RS6 Avant remains a niche choice adrift in a sea of performance-oriented SUVs. The RS6 Avant is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which produces 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.”

The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system, providing superior handling and performance.

A farewell to an icon: The 2023 Audi R8 GT

Here’s how Car & Driver summed up the performance trim of the RS6 Performance:

“The 2024 Audi RS6 Avant Performance gains 30 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque. The bump for the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, now making 621 horsepower and 627 pound-feet, comes courtesy of a larger turbocharger impeller and new engine mapping. The peak boost is up to 23.2 psi from 20.3. The added boost comes with no additional lag. The hot-V engine instantly responds to throttle inputs, while the ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic benefits from snappy downshifts that are claimed to be quicker. Audi engineers also reworked the Torsen limited-slip center differential to help squelch understeer. The reduction of sound insulation on the firewall removes some isolation and gives the engine a larger bark inside.”

“If that’s still not enough, there’s an available RS sport exhaust that’s even louder!”

Motor Trend was equally effusive:

“Audi has delivered again with the 2024 RS6 Avant Performance bringing more power, a more aggressive look, better handling, and a louder exhaust. It’s the kind of outlandish extravagance we need more of on our roads.”

And Top Gear weighed in with: “This latest iteration (of the Audi RS6 Avant) has added sophistication and technology to go with its speed. Boy-oh-boy, a hell of a lot of speed.”
